The Kingston upon Hull City Council West Area Committee local Councillors and Officers support the DADs programme, and without doubt played an important part in its early developments.
Following the award of the Community Chest Grant, which enabled the Kirklands Area Neighbourhood Watch to commission researchers, whose findings led to the setting-up of DAD's, the West Area Committee provided funding to launch and establish the DAD's programme. The DAD's first football kit was purchased with this funding and the West Area Committee logo was printed on the front, this website features the black & white kit.
Primarily a West Hull initiative, our aim was to focus on local issues and involve local parents, children and youths, and still does, primarily many of the participants in the DAD's initiative are from the West Hull Area. Subsequently due to the success of the project, DAD's is able to support other communities city-wide.
With support from local Ward Councillors, a second major research grant from the West Area Committee was allocated, and we have utilised this to research and develop a viable strategy, including business planning. We engaged marketing and business consultants to provide expert advice, furthermore a comprehensive survey of successful charities and organisations was undertaken. This process has taken in excess of 18 months, and has led to the development and writing of the DAD's overall strategy called 'Building Football Communities". This strategic document will be published mid 2004 prior to the 3rd DAD's Conference.
Hull City Council has recieved negative publicity recently, due to a complexity of problems that concerns us all; but we are putting on record that the enthusiastic and fundamental support given by Councillors and Officers from the local Wards, the West Area Committee and the Hull City Council citywide, has given DAD's the opportunity to develop a positive way forward. DAD's will utilise its employees and volunteers to support both the local and city-wide communities - working with a positive Hull City Council.
Thank you.
