DADs prison rugby masterclass

HMP Hull will be hosting the first in a series of Rugby masterclasses organised by the Dads Against Drugs charity on Thursday 20th September 2007 at 2pm.

Offenders who have signed up for the DADs rugby programme will be working with former Welsh Rugby Union International and Hull FC player Gary Pearce.

Now a well respected and successful rugby coach, Gary Pearce will be adding a touch of expertise into improving the skills of the offenders who regularly attend the sessions.

Paul Ehlert the DADs Rugby Coach said "this is the first masterclass session for those who have worked hard developing their rugby skills and we are looking forward to creating a masterclass programme that will inspire offenders in prison to take up rugby when released and help to prevent re offending".

The offenders will at the same time take part in an answer and question session from Gary Pearce about his life in rugby.

Gary Pearce said "this is a unique opportunity for me to work in a prison environment and we will promoting rugby as means to become physically active, and stay out of trouble when they are released, the DADs rugby programme is playing a vital role in helping rehabilitation".
