PRESS RELEASE 9th July 2008

Endeavour High School represents England at the EUROSCHOOLS YOUTH CAMP 2008

In September two male and two female pupils with two accompanying teachers will travel to Switzerland and Liechtenstein to work as Ambassadors for English Schools of the 53 UEFA represented countries as part of the continuing celebration of Fair Play Football alongside the UEFA European Football Championship 2008. This week long event will include a fair play football tournament, workshops for cross-cultural understanding and also an opportunity to network with young people from across Europe.

The invitation to participate in the youth camp was organised through Dads Against Drugs who are members of the Berlin based streetfootballworld global network partnership, overall organisers of the EUROSCHOOLS YOUTH CAMP 2008.

Rob Broomfield Founder of DADs said “we are really pleased that EndeavourHigh School was selected following our invite by streetfootballworld to find a school to represent England, it is a massive event and will showcase Endeavours High Schools commitment to broaden their pupil’s knowledge around European integration through football.”

Endeavour’s High School Head Teacher Christopher Straker said “this is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to meet other children from around Europe and build their understanding of other cultures.  It will also allow our staff to work with teachers and other professionals from other countries.  We are proud to represent Hull and England; and we are especially proud of our relationship with DADs”.

Johannes Axster from the Berlin based streetfootballworld global network said “ The unique youth encounter of the EUROSCHOOLS YOUTH CAMP 2008 aims on making a definite and sustainable contribution to cultural understanding and communication between nations. The method of Fair Play Football facilitates personal learning experiences for the pupils. This week will be a memorable experience for each and every participant.”
