PRESS RELEASE 9th September 2008
Four EndeavourHigh School pupils with two accompanying teachers are flying to Switzerland on 14th September 2008 to participate in a 53 Nation football event that will culminate in Vaduz, Lichtenstein bringing pupils and teachers from nations from all over Europe.
Hull based award winning charity Dads Against Drugs were given the task to find a school to represent England at EUROSCHOOLS by the Berlin based global streetfootballworld organisation which DADs are members.
Rob Broomfield, DADs founder said “Endeavour High School was the most obvious choice for DADs to nominate because of their tremendous effort through their Head Teacher Christopher Straker and dedicated Teachers to raise the standards of achievement for their pupils, the school has been much maligned over recent years, but now they are the only school representing England at EUROCAMP, everyone should be proud of their participation”.
Rob Broomfield added “you cannot underestimate the size of the event, its massive for the school, Hull and England, there are real opportunities to network with pupils and teachers from diverse countries. The Swiss pool that includes Endeavour has pupils from a school from Georgia, whilst a Russian school is in the Austrian pool, all schools meet in the final rounds in Lichtenstein, so you can see how important this event is for unification and understanding people from differing backgrounds where they can all work together to tackle many issues including conflict through football fair play”.
The two male and two female pupils with a male and female teacher will participate in workshops and football fair play tournaments. EndeavourHigh School will give a short presentation about their School and Hull, its local traditions and culture.
All the events in Switzerland, Austria and Lichtenstein will be broadcasted world wide through internet radio and via VHF on 104.1 MHz. Through http://www.powerup.ch/ anyone can witness the excitement of the events in Lichtenstein, including interviews, pupil reports and event details.
