Our Patron

< back

As a dad I am aware of the problems within our communities regarding drug misuse, and the risks to all our children, and as a professional footballer, I am well aware that football brings people together with a common purpose. Therefore I am really pleased to be Patron and involved in an initiative that uses football to tackle social issues, particularly drug misuse.

The Hull based Dads Against Drugs football initiative deserves to be both well supported and successful. I endorse the 'bottom-up approach'. which helps to maintain its goal of encouraging members of the local community to participate and help regenerate their community, building football communities.

What is encouraging is the way the DAD's organisation creates inventive ways of getting the right message across, not only do they encourage football skills, where they distribute the DAD's drug awareness comic, but also they have created an inspirational football musical theatre production, that involved many people. Furthermore the idea of involving other sports and leisure activities linked to football, such as cycling and walking, is important to target a wider group of people.

DAD's has the potential to influence many other communities, not just locally but nationally, I will endeavour to contribute what I can to ensure that the Dads Against Drugs message gets across in an effective way.

I would like as Patron of the Dads Against Drugs organisation, thank all of you whom have supported DAD's, and state that they need your continued support and encouragement to become a leading authority and positive pressure group to encourage change.
