Rob Broomfield, DADs Founder pays tribute to first 11's DADs team player "today I heard for the first time that Steve Corp (aged 59) had sadly passed away a few weeks ago, it was a shock and we are saddened at the passing of a genuine DADs supporter and friend, it was Steve who successfully nominated DADs for the Tackling Drugs Changing Lives Award, travelling down to London to receive the award at a silvers service dinner in Westminster, London. Only several weeks ago, Steve had said in an email to me that he was keen to continue to support DADs leading up to Foca 09 and beyond. In 2008 he had kindly donated £80 for the team that travelled to Foca 08, he had said 'to make sure the team have new socks'. He had often talked about DADs given him opportunities that he would have never had, travelling to Nairobi on a fact-finding mission for DADs and playing at Boothferry Park for DADs amongst others, he was very grateful for these. Furthermore he was generous in support, especially in the last year when we were faced with adversity and was always supportive of our on-going achievements. I particularly remember his last game for DADs when he hung up his boots when we played Aston Villa, he was presented with the match ball and it had been a privilege to play alongside him. He will be missed by all those that knew him and I am saddened that we will not be able to kick forward our ideas about the DADs scholarship that will be the legacy of the DADs journey to the World Cup in South Africa 2010. My family pass our sincerest condolences to his wife and family".

Enouce Ndeche sends a message from Nairobi, "I have just heard the news, this really shocks me, Steve has left a huge gap not only to his family but to the entire areas that he served in including the development of DADs and VAP in Nairobi, I vividly remember Steve telling me here in Nairobi that the future of Dads and VAPs partnership is going places, please pass on my deepest condolences to his beloved ones."

Despite the heat the DADs/NACRO team played their third match of the day versus the French team Sports dans la Ville, the match ended in a credible and well fought 4-4 draw against a very stong team. It was quite an hectic match and the French were disappointed not to win.

Unfortunately for the DADs/NACRO team they are playing in the hardest pool, drawn with Foca 08 finalists, semi finalists and quarter finalists, but report bulletins from Foca are saying that the team is playing well together, but we are down to seven with an injury to the eldest very skillful player and top scorer in the team from NACRO, who has twisted his ankle.

With one remaining match today, its a must win situation (a bit like the Tigers vs. Man Utd tomorrow), but they playing against probably one of the stronger teams in the Tournament, Niksic from Montenegro.

Good Luck DADs/NACRO for the remaining game...

DADs finished the final game tired and beaten 1-11 by the team from Montenegro, Niksic; it was one match to many in a day of intense 35 degree heat, and with injuries to key players DADs/NACRO had little energy, but gave everything they could.

The team finished 5th in the pool, so do not reach the final stages and will play a series of rounds in the plate competition against streetleague, London; Otolom Sports Association, Hungary and Beli Manastir, Croatia.

After the tournament winners receives their trophy, all teams will converge onto the pitch and receive their Foca 09 medals and a tournament football. After travelling back to Sutjeska, the closing party will be held with at the hotel with a DJ and hiphop music.

 Wolves in the night...
The distant cries of Wolves were heard in the early hours of Sunday morning; Sutjeska National Park where the teams are staying is one of the last remaining two wildernesses in Europe, Wolves and Bears are found in the region.

DADs have beaten the Hungarian Team from Otolom Sports Association 8-2 to reach the final of the Foca 09 Plate Competition.
After wins against streetleague, London; Otolom Sports Association, Hungary and Beli Manastir, Croatia, DADS/NACRO faced Sports dans la Ville in the final of the plate competition late this Sunday afternoon, in a close match DADS/NACRO took the 2-0, before Sports dans la Ville scored to make it a tense final few minutes, the final whistle blew to the relief and joy of the DADS/NACRO team whom had performed really well on the last day of the fair play tournament, winning the Plate Competition in Foca 09.

The Fair Play method has no referees; teamsters work with both teams before and after the game and the players themselves ensure that there is fair play on the pitch.

Wendy Broomfield at Foca was delighted with the performance and enthusiasm of the teams stating "the team worked hard in the Pool group and did exceptionally well in high temperatures (33 degrees), but could not keep up with those more used to playing in such conditions; today it was slightly cooler [29 degrees] and they played brilliant".

Foca 09 finishes today with a party at the Hotel in Sutjeska National Park before travelling back to Sarajevo early morning, flying via Munich to Manchester Airport, arriving back in Hull Monday evening where their families will be waiting to greet the team.

Special permission was granted to the DADs/NACRO players to swap the coverted DADs football shirts with players from other teams to celebrate their success and achievement.

Altogether the team won 5 games, drew 1 and lost 2; the games were played under fair play rules with teamsters as opposed to referees supporting the players with their own decision making during the game.

DADs and the Foca 09 Team would like to extend a massive thank you to streetfootballworld for again organising what is a huge logistical event which was funded generously by the EU and for inviting DADS/NACRO and also bringing together twenty four teams from all over Europe and Balkans together, reuniting old friends as well as making new friends and future networking partners.

DADs appreciates the hard work and commitment from streetfootballworld, the logistical size of the operation and its diversity with workshops and football, particularly sfw positve response to the difficulties faced and the problem solving approach.

The weather was amazing (35 degrees at times), when all of the teams were under shade, DADs and NACRO stayed put "only mad dogs and Englishmen lay out in the midday sun..."

Special thanks to the Teams fantastic Parents for the trust, committment, enthusiam and fundraising endeavours, sore feet and all, your kids were a credit to DADs, their School and yourselves; Jamie Bates and Wolfreton High School for the hard work and support and Garreth Roberts (former Tigers Captain and Legend) for the links.

We really liked the DADs team (and mums) comments on the Blackboard...

Rob Broomfield, DADs
A year ago we travelled to Foca 08 and had a fantastic time, the DADs team partnered with NACRO are excited at the prospect of good friendship, great football and building lasting friendships, and we have looked at the weather and its going to be hot... Sadly for me I am not travelling this time, but wish everyone a great time and look forward to being kept update via the Blackboard which is a great innovation; all I have got to look forward to is torrential rain, cold windy weather and maybe Hull City relegated from the Premiership, what a difference a year makes...
Have a fantastic time teams and good luck sfw.

bethany dove & lucy russell.
hello, brilliant here in foca , really hot.
we played germany yesterday and won 2-1, as aron scored our 2 goals.
and today we played poland and lost 0-1, we just played portugal and lost 1-5 but they had like a semi pro. but it was a good game, and lucy evans scored for us in that game.
sorry havnt been in much touch from the signal being very low. see you soon x

Will Broomfield
Young leader of the joint organization Dads Against Drugs and Nacro. Currently enjoying the experience, the weather and the football tournament. We have currently beat Germany 2-1, then lost to Portugal 5-1 and Poland 1-0, but still got to play France and Montenegro so hopefully we can win them both and qualify for the next round!!! But overall loving the experience, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity.

Lucy Evans and Sophie Johnson.
hiii its boilinggg here! DADs Rob Broomfield said "what we are building during this difficult social and economic period, is something that will continue beyond our 10th year anniversary in 2010; football is a winning game, its about fair play - tackling adversity and foul play is what we are good at.

The local, national and global team of organisations, businesses and individual friends who support DADs, whom TODAY specifically reiterated their support for ongoing projects, has been heartfelt and warming for the future of DADs .. Hey Rob, right finally got time to send you a detail of events so far. Feels like we have been here ages, went to Alexandra today, absolutely unreal experience, the kids were all in complete shock and its only been 36 hours here, feels like an age. Got confirmation of a game at the opening ceremony which was brilliant, lots of dancing and african singing, kids are starting to come out of their shells and get to grips with everything now. As for the draw we got Street League, Brazil, Malia, Cambodia, Columbia, Football Friends, special olympics as best as I can remember. Kids did events this morning, me and Jamie got a bit of a refresh on coaching drills and Will/Wendy did their various expected roles. All going really well, no major issues although I'm sure the risk assessment guys would of loved to see us walking around Alexandra but what a place. Will be in touch, hope your well. Internet is a bit dodgy, might struggle to upload photos but will try our best, girls tried yesterday but got no luck.
